GLANBIA FOODS ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
TWIN FALLS, ID - July 1, 2009 - The Glanbia Foods Scholarship Program announces the selection of two scholarship winners for the 2009-2010 school year. The winners were selected from a pool of applicants based on their academic record, essay, extra curricular/community activities, work experience, and leadership skills. Each will receive a $2,500 scholarship to pursue their college education this fall.
Glanbia Foods established its scholarship program in 1997 to encourage sons and daughters of full-time Glanbia employees and its patrons to continue their educational training beyond the high school level.
"Our Scholarship Program supports college-bound students with education-related expenses," said Shawn Athay, vice president, human resources and organizational development at Glanbia. "We're proud to encourage and assist in the educational pursuits of the children of Glanbia Foods' employees and our patrons, and congratulate each of this year's recipients."
The winning graduating high school seniors must enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited or four year college, university or vocational-technical school. Scholarship monies must be used in the school year following receipt of the award.
Glanbia will give a $2,500 scholarship to each of the following students:
Lael Schoessler II, son of Lael and Justine Schoessler of ‘No View Dairy', graduated from Kimberly High School with a GPA of 3.60. He plans to attend the College of Southern Idaho for one year and then transfer to the University of Idaho to pursue a degree in Dairy Science. After he earns his degree, Lael plans to take over the family dairy from his parents when they retire.
Brian Faria, son of Manuel Faria of ‘Faria Dairy', graduated from Twin Falls High school with a GPA of 3.60 and plans to attend the University of Idaho to pursue a degree in biology. His goal is to become a dentist and open a practice in Twin Falls.
