Glanbia Foods 16th Annual Golf Tournament Raises $105,000

GLANBIA FOODS HOLDS 16^th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT -

LARGEST CHARITY EVENT IN THE MAGIC VALLEY RAISES

TWIN FALLS, ID - August 4, 2009 -- Glanbia Foods hosted their 16^th Annual Charity Challenge Golf Tournament August 17th at Blue Lakes Country Club and raised $105,000 for local charities.  Over 180 golfers from around the country played in the tournament, fully underwritten by Glanbia Foods. 

"We started the tournament in 1994 as a way to raise money to support Magic Valley charities," said Jeff Williams, president and chief executive officer of Glanbia Foods. "Since then, we have raised almost $1 million dollars which has been given to 40 local non-profit organizations.  Thanks to the most generous support of this year's tournament participants, we're proud to donate $105,000 to six groups," he said.  

Glanbia selected the following charities to receive these funds:  

• The Mustard Seed:  $55,000
• La Posada:  $20,000
• Gooding Fire Department:  $14,000
• Jubilee House:  $6,000
• Idaho Legal Aid Services:  $5,000
• Youth Interactive Prevention Services (YIPS):  $5,000

  "Our goal in holding this annual tournament is to directly and significantly assist Magic Valley charities who help area residents in so many important ways," Williams said.  "We surpassed our goal of raising  $100,000 this year and we hope to raise even more next year."

 The Mustard Seed is a community thrift store that reinvests their profits to support and assist thousands of families and individuals through its resale store, a food pantry and consulting office.

La Posada assists with immigration, tax and legal issues for their clients.

The Gooding Fire Department will use Glanbia funds to purchase new rescue equipment Funds for new rescue equipment

Jubilee House is a recovery home for women and children.  Glanbia funds will be used to purchase a fence around property

Idaho Legal Aid Services will use their funds to provide legal fees for abused women

Y.I.P.S. will use their funds to support high school counseling for drug and alcohol prevention
